Latest find for the collection: Biscuit plate in brown transferware pattern “Cairo” circa 1885 by Copeland. Cairo is a fascinating pattern as it combines Japanese elements and style with Egyptian/Middle Eastern motifs such as the camel in the unfurling scroll here.
Pickle dish in the brown transferware pattern “Cairo” by Copeland c. 1880’s. In the Japanese like cartouche there is an image of an Egyptian obelisk which overlaps a motif representative of a Japanese mon. The design is completed with a flowering branch.
